FORSITE AM PM PLASTIC BACKED ADULT BRIEFS FULL REVIEW

SIZING

The Forsite AM PM Diapers comes in two sizes:

    •Medium 27.5” to 39.5” waist or hip

    •Large 39.5” to 59” waist or hip

*NOTE:  This is the THIRD product to receive all “very good” ratings in our reviews!  Read the review and you’ll understand why.  If you are looking for a diaper that will protect you laying on your stomach, on your side, on your back, standing on your head....this is definitely an amazing product!  Like I found with the Northshore Supreme Briefs and Better Dry Briefs the position in which you are standing or laying doesn’t matter.  These protect amazingly well in ALL positions!

The fit of the Forsite AM PM diaper gets a “very good” rating due to the fact that they will definitely fit what their sizing says.  I wear a large, as I have a 40” waist and prefer the larger fit of a large diaper, and I have NO doubt that the side wings are plenty large enough to go up to a 59” waist or hip.  The leg openings are large enough, but those with very skinny legs may want to downsize to the medium, as I think the leg openings may be a bit big for skinnier legs due to muscle atrophy, etc.....

CONSTRUCTION

The Forsite AM PM Brief has a white plastic outer covering.  The diaper has a yellow PH sensitive wetness indicator, that is supposed to turn blue when the diaper is wet and it is time for a change.  I have yet to see the wetness indicator turn blue when the diaper is wet.  Not sure why.  The wetness indicator is so light in color that you almost don’t notice it which, as far as I am concerned is a great thing!  The wetness indicator is very faint, and really should not be visible under a pair of thin white pants or shorts.  There are two clear single layer refastenable adhesive tapes on each side.  The tape tabs have a blue end on them, so they can be found on the clear tape landing zone.  They have a large grasping end, so those with poor dexterity should be able to fasten and unfasten them easily. Even though the tapes are single layer, they can be unfastened from the tape landing zone multiple times before they start to lose their adhesive. The tapes are VERY strong and DO NOT slip at all.  I can wear JUST this diaper with nothing over it at night and the tapes never move!  The tapes on this product are not huge, but plenty large and strong enough to do what you need them to do.  The Forsite diaper has very tall and effective standing inner leak barriers.  The standing leak barriers don't stick to the elastic leg gathers or the padding when the diaper is unfolded, so putting them on with the standing inner leak barriers in the proper position is a breeze.  They are very effective at stopping moisture and feces from leaking.  The diaper has an elastic waistband in the back AND in the front!  It is a tall waistband that does not chafe or bind against the skin.  It is very effective at keeping the waistband of the diaper from rolling down.

Plastic Backing

The plastic backing on these briefs is very strong.  This plastic does NOT stretch at all when you move.  I have seen no evidence of any kind of pinhole or plastic weakness AT ALL, and judging by the quality of this brief, I don’t think I ever will.  The plastic backing is very smooth and slippery, which is nice for us paraplegics when it comes to moving around in bed or trying to pull our pants on or off over the diaper.  Not a feature many (if any) companies ever think about, but it sure makes a difference for us!  If you were wearing this diaper under jeans, you may notice some plastic noise from the diaper, but more so from the tape landing zone, which we will discuss later.  If you are wearing the Foresite AM PM diaper under sweat pants or thin dress pants, you WILL hear plastic noise.  This can be muffled by wearing tight fitting underwear or a heavy pair of plastic pants over the diaper.

Elastic Waist and Leg Bands

The elastic at the leg openings is VERY effective at giving a snug fit around the legs and in the leg creases.  With the lower tapes, you want to fasten them comfortably snug, but not TIGHT, as this will stretch the leg elastic out, may cause leaking and will cause the plastic to pinch and cut your leg, due to the fact that the plastic backing does not really stretch.  If fastened comfortably snug though, leakage and cutting into your skin will NOT be a problem at all.  My experience with the elastics is that if taped comfortably snug but not tight, they protect INCREDIBLY.

Standing Inner Leak Barriers

The standing inner leakage barriers on this product are incredibly effective.  Really they are more for bowel containment than urine, as the padding absorbs SO fast that there is not really a need for urine protection.  They come up better than 3/4 of the way in both the front AND back, giving excellent protection against leakage.  As noted above:  When you are unfolding the Forsite AM PM diaper, you do not need to run your fingers along the standing inner leak barriers to free them from the elastic leg bands or padding.

Padding Size, Shape and Thickness

The padding shape on this diaper is the “figure 8” shape, with quite a bit of padding out toward the wings, which helps the performance of the diaper, especially when sitting or lying down.  Now, with the speed of absorbency of this product and the incredible standing inner leak barriers, excess padding in the wings is really not needed, but Forsite has gone that extra mile.  While the padding does not wrap all the way around the sides, it comes far enough past the elastic in the front and back to catch any wetness or stool that might get past the standing inner leak barrier.  The padding that extends out toward the wings in the front is about 1” to 2” narrower than it is in the back.  This allows a good, less bulky fit but still gives enough padding to make this a very protective product.

The padding on this product is fairly bulky and is made of a great mix of paper pulp and polymer.  Forsite does a GREAT job of even polymer and paper pulp (padding) distribution so that the diaper does NOT bukl and bunch up!  What makes this padding fairly bulky, and what women may not like, is the padding is very wide.  It is on the order of 15% to 20% wider than other diapers on the market.  For us men, this is a GREAT feature that I hope Forsite never changes!  Due to our anatomy, we need wider padding between the legs to help prevent leaks.  Even with the HIGH polymer content of this diaper, you do not feel bumps on the outside of the plastic and don’t experience “pinholes” caused by the polymer granules, like you do with other brands.  Under everyday clothing, even with the wider padding between the legs, this product would not be obvious while dry, other than an occasional plastic crinkle that you might be able to muffle by wearing a pair of tight fitting underwear or plastic pants over the diaper.  The padding absorbs very quickly!  It does wick (move moisture from a wet area to a dry/drier area) VERY well, due to the porportion of paper pulp to polymer.  Even with the INCREDIBLE amount this diaper absorbs, the plastic backing stays strong and the tapes continue to hold well, even when the diaper is totally saturated.

For those who are wondering about padding bunching up...the padding on this diaper does not bunch up. I have worn the Foresite diaper until completely saturated, and while the padding may have swollen a LITTLE, it did not bunch or break up.

Single Layer Refastenable Tape Tabs and Tape Landing Zone

As mentioned before, this diaper has 2 exceptionally strong SINGLE layer refastenable tapes on each side that fasten to a very smooth and STRONG clear tape landing zone on the front of the diaper.  The tape tabs, while clear, have a blue end on them, so you can see them on the clear landing zone.  This blue end also is the area where you grasp the tape tab when fastening and unfastening.  The blue area is large enough to grasp, but not so large as to catch on your clothing or bedding.  The tape landing zone is clear plastic and is attached well to the diaper plastic backing, so it does not pull away when you are unfastening the tapes.  The landing zone comes far enough out to the sides to allow for placement of tapes in the size ranges listed above.  The landing zone is a little "crinkly", but the sound can be muffled as noted above.

QUALITY

The quality of the Forsite AM PM Brief is amazing so far!  I have found NO quality issues...no padding outside of the are it’s supposed to be in, no tape problems, no pinhole issues and no elastic issues on the standing inner leak barriers OR the leg elastics.   I have seen NO variance from case to case, which is amazing in this day of high speed manufacturing automation.  One diaper is the same as the next...one case is the same as the next.  WELL DONE!

APPEARANCE

Again, the Forsite diaper is all white, so should just look like regular underwear under a pair of thin white pants.  The wetness indicator is faint enough that it should not be visible under even thin white pants or shorts.  So overall, appearance is decent.

COMFORT

The Foresite diaper is comfortable when put on dry AND when extremely wet!  The lining on the inside is very soft to the touch and the standing inner leak barriers, while tall and super effective are soft and pliable and do not chafe.  The tapes hold very well, so there should be no sagging or looseness as the diaper becomes wet.  There is an elastic waistband that helps hold the diaper up and improve fit.  Overall comfort is fantastic until this diaper is way beyond wet and well past time to change.  The only thing some may not like, is that this diaper fits a bit lower on the waist than most.  I personally like this, as the waistband of my pants covers the diaper without a bunch of extra diaper sticking out of the top of my pants.  I have not found the lower waist to be a problem even when bowel movements happen.  No leakage, even though it seems to be cut lower.

VALUE FOR THE PRICE

OK, this is the main drawback for this diaper.  It is QUITE pricey.  Price comes to about $2.63 per diaper, which is a little cheaper than the Rears Diaper which we can not get in the Unites States anymore.  For the price, the protection is excellent, if you can afford to add it to your daily lineup.  Give them a try and  drop an email to me and let me know what you think.
